Dr. Henry Ozirney was born and raised in the province of Saskatchewan. He accepted Christ as saviour at the age of 9 and after high school, he attended and graduated from Millar Memorial Bible Institute in Pambrun, Saskatchewan with a diploma in 1969. That same fall, he enrolled at Winnipeg Bible College in Winnipeg, Manitoba to complete his Bachelor of Theology degree. While studying there, he began a Bible study at his sister’s place in the Stonewall, Manitoba area. Shortly thereafter, he was approached to become the pastor of a new church beginning in Stonewall, in the spring of 1970. When that church organized on March 19, 1970, Henry was called as its first pastor, a position he held until his retirement April 30, 2014.
In addition to his Bachelor of Theology degree (1971), he also completed both a Master of Divinity degree (1984) as well as a Doctor of Ministry degree (1999) from Providence Theological Seminary in Otterburne, Mb. He has been to Israel 22 times and having hosted tours groups of all sizes on 19 of those trips. Twice, in 2006 and 2013, he studied at Jerusalem University College in Jerusalem, Israel in the Master of Arts program, focusing on the Historical and Geographical Settings to the Land of the Bible.
Henry is married to his Bible college sweetheart, Linda, who herself retired June 2014 from her role as the National Director of Women’s Ministries for the Baptist General Conference of Canada. She had served in this capacity for the previous 14 years.
Since his retirement, Henry has been involved in a number of various ministries, including being the current Interim Pastor at New Life Church, Teulon, MB, as well as an adjunct professor at Millar College of the Bible.
They have four children and nine grandchildren. In addition to spending time with his grandchildren, Henry enjoys gardening, golfing and cruising in a 1965 Mustang convertible that he has been restoring.
